SPACE EATER Singer Dies In Fire; TV Report Available

June 3, 2009

Boško Radišic, the 28-year-old frontman of the Serbian thrash metal band SPACE EATER, and his 26-year-old sister died last night (June 2) when a fire broke out in their apartment building in Belgrade.

According to media reports, the two fled their apartment at the sight of the fire and suffocated in the fumes as the smoke began to rise up the staircase while they were trying to get down to safety.

A B92 TV report (in Serbian) on the tragedy can be viewed below.

Concert organizer Branko Milosavljevic of Legacy Promotion tells BLABBERMOUTH.NET: "Boško Radišic will be remembered as a huge supporter of the Serbian scene through his work with SPACE EATER and his The Vault fanzine, through which he worked tirelessly to promote Serbian metal abroad. Most of all, he will be remembered by his family, friends, band mates and fans as a great friend and a tremendous human being."

Boško's funeral will be held on Friday, June 5 at his hometown "UB" (local graveyard) at 14.00h CET.

In January 2009, SPACE EATER recorded a cover of "Speed Metal Manijak" for a BOMBARDER tribute album, to be released in late 2009 or early 2010. SPACE EATER opened for German thrash metal veterans DESTRUCTION in May and was scheduled to support SODOM in September in Belgrade.

According to SPACE EATER's official bio, the band had recorded a promo version of its second album, which was supposed to contain eight new songs: "Crush, Kill, Destroy", "Say Your Prayers", "Abort", "F.A.A." , "Up On These Shores", "Quantum Leap", "Divide & Conquer" and "No Retreat".
